Polling begins for MLC elections to six teachers, graduate seats

Bengaluru: Election to six legislative council seats, three each from graduates and teachers constituencies started over the state on Friday June 8.

Elections started at 7 am and will go ahead till 5 pm. The results will be reported on June 12. 

The three noteworthy parties Congress, JD(S) and the BJP have handled applicants in each of the six seats. 

Mangaluru teacher’s constituency applicant of the BJP Ganesh Karnik casted his vote at University College in Hampankatta. 

Former deputy chairman of legislative council Maritibbegowda is looking for re-election from south graduates’ constituency, while former Hebbal MLA YA Narayanaswamy is in the shred from southeast graduates section. Senior BJP pioneer Ganesh Karnik is looking for re-election from southwest teachers electorate and former MP from Shivamogga Ayanur Manjunath is challenging from southwest graduates’ supporters. Kannada activist and former MLA Vatal Nagaraj is in the shred from upper east graduates’ constituency.

Generally, 35 applicants, including 18 from the three parties, are in the shred for the six seats, which will see 2.14 lakh voters in the graduates’ constituencies and 60,561 in the teachers’ constituency.
