The ashes of the victims which were left unclaimed for months in hospitals in the state were collected and immersed in the Cauvery at Belakavadi on June 2 before this.

The ‘pinda pradhana’ ritual was conducted at the Gosai Ghat on the banks of the river in Srirangapatna in the presence of Revenue Minister R Ashok, Mandya Deputy Commissioner S Aswathi, and other officials.

“We wanted to ensure that none of those who succumbed to Covid, including those whose family members were not able to perform the last rites due to various reasons, were given a dignified farewell,” Ashoka said.
