Kalawanti Doshi, 75, migrated to Nagpur from Gujarat with her husband for his job. However, a year after moving he lost his job.
With only Rs. 60 in their pocket, the couple decided to open a fafda stall, they both worked their way up from earning less than Rs 50 per day to become one of the city’s top food stalls in the city.
The thela or stall was running great and the couple became famous with the name of “Fafde waale” but unfortunately, 10 years ago, Kalawanti Devi’s husband passed away.
She was asked by her children to retire but she didn’t want to do that. She wanted to continue with her business because she knew that she was the other half of ‘Fafde-waale’.

She continued and still continues! Everyday, this woman comes to her stand at 11am and leaves by 8pm. She serves one of the most delicious fafdas which are loved by a lot of people.

Kalawanti Doshi proved that getting old is not a disease but a part of life.
