The new railway line covers a distance of 104 kilometres including a 2 kilometre long underground tunnel. There are 13 railway stations exists between Bidar and Kalburgi stations. The railway route completed at a cost of Rs 1,542 crore against the previous estimate of Rs 369.7 crore.
The railway line took 16 years to complete its works against proposed duration of 5 years after then Union Railway Minister Bangaru Laxman laid foundation stone for the project in 2000.
