The new VC was selected by the Executive Council of NLSIU, pursuant to the recommendation made by a Committee constituted for this purpose. The Committee was headed by Supreme Court judge, Justice SA Bobde.
Although a photograph of Krishnaswamy signing documents which formalized his appointment was leaked on Wednesday evening, the Student Bar Association maintained on Thursday morning that the appointment has been formally announced because an official circular on the matter has not been sent out – as is common practice.
It may be recalled that on Monday, September 23 agitating students of National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, called off their strike over the delay in appointment of Sudhir Krishnaswamy to the post of vice-chancellor even as the Bar Council of India has written to the Chief Justice of India seeking review of the decision on his appointment.

Slamming the students’ agitation on the NLSUI campus, the Bar body, in a statement, claimed that Professor Krishnaswamy’s role behind the stir cannot be ruled out and said the Executive Council should review the decision to appoint him as Vice-Chancellor to restore discipline.
However, the Students Bar Association of NLSUI on Monday called of their strike, saying that the Chief Justice of India was aware of their concerns.
