If importance is given for heli-tourism, then the tourists arriving through NMPT can be given a tour within 150 km range including the prime tourist spots of DK, Udupi, Kodagu and Chikkamagaluru districts. Through this, tourism can be developed. We have registered three ships for 2019-20 term and a minimum of 26 ships bearing tourists are expected to make call on the port, he informed.

Dust-free road to the beach

Latest facility will be used to manage the lorries bearing goods to NMPT yard and the road to the beach will be made dust-free.

Caution has been taken concerning ships disposing waste on the sea. Tar balls are sometimes deposited on the beach due to the disposal occurring along international shipping lanes. This time it has reached the lowest level, he informed and added that the dredging company has taken conducive steps for the removal of oil form the sunken dredger.
