Addressing reporters in the district Congress office here, Rao said, “The protesters had no choice but to cover their faces as police lobbed tear gases.”

The Congress leader also demanded that city police commissioner and police officers responsible for the firing be suspended immediately. A judicial inquiry by a sitting judge of the High court should be conducted into the incident, he demanded.

Further, he warned that the KPCC will stage protests if the state government does not conduct a judicial enquiry.

On the issue of CAA, Rao accused Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah of resorting to divisive politics for vote bank.
