Earlier, the calendar of events had to be advanced by a month because examinations of the previous academic year completed early due to the upcoming State Assembly elections.
But with SSLC exam results being announced on Monday, PU colleges are struggling to complete their admission process before May 14. Many colleges decided that they would re-open only in the last week of May or first week of June.
Most colleges plan on releasing the cut-off list in the third week of May.

Many parents are now relived that the department has postponed the re-opening date. Mangala Padmanabha, a parent, said, “It would have been very difficult for parents to complete the process in a week. There are multiple formalities that need to be completed that include arranging the fees, books and getting the duplicate marks card from the school.”
However, a number of colleges are still going by the old schedule, giving parents barely a week for admission formalities and fee payment.
Parents are demanding that the department bring clarity and issue a circular to all colleges at the earliest.
