Rahul Gandhi to visit Kasaragod on Mar 12

• AICC president will meet families of murdered Congress activists

Kasaragod: Rahul Gandhi will be visiting Kasaragod on March 12^th with the aim to meet the families of two youth Congress activists Kripesh and Sharath Lal who were brutally murdered on February 17^th.

The AICC president had phoned the families soon after the brutal murder and had assured to visit them at his earliest.

Rahul Gandhi will arrive at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) and then proceed towards Kasaragod to meet the victims’ families. He will later be participating in a Congress rally in Kozhikode.

Preliminary investigation of the murder has confirmed the role of CPI (M) in the murder and so far 7 accused have been arrested so far. The victim’s families have demanded a CBI probe alleging that the CPI (M) is trying to close the case.

Initially, the case was being investigated by the crime branch, but within 5 days into the investigation, crime branch head Mohammed Rafeeq was replaced by another officer. This gave rise to the suspicion of CPI (M) involvement in the crime. Hence the demand for a CBI probe.
