Raichur: 4 family members murdered in apparent honour killing

Raichur: In a case of honour killing, 4 members of the boy’s family were murdered by the girl’s family for the marriage at Sindhanur in the district on Saturday, July 11.

Mounesh (21) and Manjula (18) had married at Gadag seven months ago after courting each other for over a year.

Both had visited Manjula’s house, however, Manjula’s family already opposed to their relationship, refused to accept them.

The couple went to the police seeking protection from Manjula’s family.

Angered by this, Manjula’s family came to the Mounesh’s home and quarreled with his family. The quarreled escalated leading to fatal attacks with iron rods on 4 of Mounesh’s family members.

Mounesh’s mother Sumitramma (55), uncles Nagaraja (38), Hanumesha (40) and aunt Sridevi (30) died on the spot. His father Irappa (65), two sisters Revati (20) and Taiamma (25) were injured.

The Sindhanur police have arrested four people in connection with the incident.
