Rain in Kodagu, Chikmagalur

Madikeri/Chikmagalur: This year’s first rains have occurred at various locations in Kodagu and Chikmagalur on Wednesday. The showers were a much welcomed relief for the people.

If it only began to drizzle in Madikeri in the evening, there was good rain at Napoklu and its surrounding areas thus creating a much cool weather here.

There was average rain at Mudigere, N R Pura, Koppa and other areas of Chikmagalur.

Though the untimely rains brought happiness on the faces of the general public, it has become a slight cause for concern for coffee cultivators. There is fear that the coffee being dried may get wet and also the ripened pepper may fall off due to the rains.

Although the skies were covered with clouds, a sudden rain was far from expectation. However, the rain and lightning on Wednesday afternoon at Napoklu limits turned the happy faces of the cultivators into fear.

Normally, the first rain in the districts occur during the months on March or April. In this way the future of the coffee plants was secure. But, if it rains during the final process by the cultivators, it will give rise to some problems.
