Addressing a press conference Chandrashekar said that he has withdrawn his nomination and decided to support Anitha Kumaraswamy. “I have come back to my mother party, I am happy,” he said.
He explained that he had joined BJP two weeks ago and the bigwigs of BJP asked him to contest in the by-polls to which he agreed. But, after submitting his nomination no one supported him or campaign for him. BJP failed to fulfil their promises, he added.
Ramanagara constituency is one such constituency where the rivalry between the Congress and JD(S) is legendary. This is going to be the first election in four decades where Congress-JD(S) will not be contesting against each other. On contrary, Congress which is the coalition partner in the state government has decided to support Ms Kumaraswamy in the by-polls. The supporters of Ms Kumaraswamy feel that this one is in the bag, since her only other rival is now on their side.
