Bengaluru: Justice Sreenivas Harish Kumar remarked while hearing the bail pleas of actresses Ragini Dwivedi, Sanjana Galrani and Prashant Ranka that the circumstances in Rhea Chakraborty’s case and that in the Sandalwood drug case are contrary.

He made this observation to the counsel of the bail petitioners who had argued that if the amount of the seized illegal substance was small and if it is a case of consumption only then bail can be granted as was done in the case of Rhea by the Bombay High Court.

Justice Kumar added that there is no provision under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act stating that offences are punishable based on quantity.

The prosecution mentioned in the court that Ragini filled the bottle with water when asked for her urine samples for testing. The court then stated that this shows that she intended to purposely mislead the investigation.

The Karnataka High Court had dismissed the bail petitions of the three on Tuesday November 3.
