As soon as the eclipse began 10 children in Taj Sultanpur village here were seen buried neck-deep in the sand by their parents. The children were freed only after the eclipse was over.
Meanwhile, few disabled children in Arjunagi village of Afzalpur taluk of the district were also buried in a similar way. The parents said that they did so hoping that the children would be cured of their disabilities.
Though it’s uncommon for the movements of the Sun and the Moon to be associated with superstitions, some such belief raised their heads for today’s ‘Ring of Fire’ solar eclipse.
