RTOs likely to Reduce Fee of DL, Other Services in Karnataka from Next Month

Bengaluru: Karnataka Transport Department has decided to reduce the fees charged by regional transport office in the state to provide services like driving licence, fitness certificate, vehicle registration and others with effect from May 2017. The decision came after a meeting between Karnataka State Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy and representatives of lorry owners, transport and other associations on Thursday.

There were protests against the steep hike in the fees including, the learners’ licence fee from Rs 30 to Rs 200, driving licence from Rs 50 to Rs 500, including the fee for driving competence test came into force after January 2017. The fee for registration of new vehicle (RC) went up from Rs 25 to Rs 50 with an additional pay of Rs 200 for smart cards. Earlier, heavy vehicles associations protested against registration certificate fee hike for a four-wheeler from Rs 500 to Rs 1,000.
