The school was the first school for the visually challenged in the country, which was founded in 1901. The syllabus is the same as that of the other schools, except that Indian Economics and Indian Sociology are studied instead of Mathematics and Science.

Supreeth, who has scored the second highest score ever in his school, said that he wants to become a teacher and teach the visually impaired. He is the son of Panduranga, who works as a security guard and Roopa, who is a flower vendor, both of whom are overjoyed by his results.

Supreeth was a resident student in the school so that he would not compromise on his time for studies. He used to study from 5:30 am to 8:30 am and from 7pm to 10pm. He will be joining a regular PU college in the city to pursue a course in Arts.
