Bengaluru: The state government has warned of action against private unaided schools if they demand/collect fees from parents in the name of online classes and online admissions. In the backdrop of the complaints received from parents, the Department of Public Instructions on Saturday warned of suitable action, under Section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897, against the management of educational institutes who violate the rules. The matter came up for discussion during a meeting held by Minister for Primary and Secondary Education S Suresh Kumar with officials from the department. Schools can conduct online classes but they are not permitted to collect the fee from parents until further orders from the department, read the DPI order. The department also warned schools not to start the admission process for the 2020-21 academic year as the government has suspended all such activities in view of the COVID-19 crisis.
