Speaking to presspersons at his office on Tuesday, April 16, Senthil said that as per prohibitory orders unlawful assembly of people and open campaigning will be banned. However political parties will be allowed to carry out door-to-door campaigning. Any campaigner from outside the district should leave by 6 pm today, he said.
He further said that sale of liquor was banned from today till midnight of April 18.
So far 15 vehicles, Rs 31,00,495 cash, and 84,285.10 litres of alcohol worth Rs 94,55,496 have been seized for violations since the implementation of model code of conduct. A total of 587 FIRs have been filed for excise law violation, Senthil informed.
