Separate incidents: Two suspected to have been washed away

Tekkatte: Kanaka Kulalti (62), wife of Mahabala Kulal, a resident of Kattina Budada in Hesakutturu village in Kundapur district went missing on Sep 8^th and it is suspected that she might have fallen into the river located nearby based on which, the search operation for her has been continued.

Incident synopsis

On Saturday night, there was a power cut at the house and the woman went out to relieve herself when, it is suspected that she might have accidentally fallen into the drain there and got washed away. In this backdrop, the locals began searching for the woman during the night itself but to no avail. Later, divers and fire brigade personnel carried out continuous search for the woman at the river to which the drain connects, but to no avail as well. The water inflow at the river has increased and hence played a spoilsport during the search.

Udupi SP Nisha James, Kundapur Tahsildar Tippeswami, Kundapur rural police inspector Shridhar Nayak, Kota police inspector Nityananda Gowda and Korgi GP vice president Gowrish Hegde visited the missing woman’s house at Hesakutturu.

Labourer missing in Puttur

Puttur: A man who had left for day-wage work from Artimule Ajaladka in Mogru village has gone missing at Anaje in Niddalli village in Sep 7^th. The missing man is identified as Pakira Naika alias Purandara (50), son of Chaniya Naika from Artimule Ajaladka.

The slippers and umbrella belonging to the missing man were found near the minor dam at Anaje and hence, it is suspected that the man might have been washed away in the water.

On Saturday morning, Purandara left from his home for day-wage labour but failed to return even though it was evening. Hence, a search was launched to locate the missing man and eventually, his slippers and umbrella were found near the dam.

NDRF arrives

Puttur rural police station staffs and the personnel of the fire brigade visited the location and carried out a search operation for the missing man with assistance from the locals. On Sunday, NDRF team from Sullia and Mangaluru arrived to the location and carried out search operation, but no clue to the missing man’s whereabouts was found until evening.

Puttur MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor and tahsildar Ananta Shankar visited the location.

A case in this connection has been registered at Puttur rural police station.
