The incident took place last month when the victim Nanjudappa, a resident of Bhadravathi was sitting outside his house to smoke a beedi at around 9.30 pm. He felt a pain in his right eye and mistakenly ripped out his eyeball thinking it was an insect.
He threw the eyeball near the house and asked his grandson to hit it with a stick. When Nanjudappa’s son returned home he was shocked to see blood oozing from his father’s eyes and asked them what happened. When the incident was narrated to him he realised what had happened and rushed his father to a nearby hospital.
Later he was shifted to McCann Teaching General Hospital for further treatment.
