Shravanabelagola Mahamastakabhisheka procession enters Golden Book of Records

Hassan: The six-kilometer-long parade, taken out around Vindhyagiri as a feature of the 88th Mahamastakabhisheka on February 16, has entered the Golden Book of Records for being the ‘biggest melodic parade,’ leaving the general population having a place with the Jain people group thrilled. On Wednesday, a 1,000-kalasha jalabhisheka was held from 8.30 am to 12 pm. The statue of Bahubali was smeared with tender coconut water, sugarcane juice, milk, turmeric and sandalwood paste in the midst of the droning of hymns by thousands of devotees. The statue was likewise blessed with ‘Kashaya,’ made of herbs. It symbolizes demolition of contempt and evil desires wants from individuals’ minds. It is said that the herbs will protect the statue.
