Siddaramaiah to Contest from Chamundeshwari Constituency in Next Assembly Elections

Mysuru: Karnataka Congress leader, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that he would contest from Chamundeshwari constituency of Mysuru in the next assembly elections. Speculations on the candidature of Karnataka Chief Minister in the next assembly elections cleared with the new statement from him here in Mysuru on Friday. Earlier, voters of Chamundeshwari constituency sent Congress leader to state assembly for 6 times.

In the by-elections held in 2006, Siddaramaiah defeated his rival by a margin of just 257 votes. However, in 2013 he changed his constituency to Varuna and won the election battle with a huge margin of 29, 467 votes.

At present, Chamundeshwari constituency is represented by GT Deve Gowda and the constituency is expected to witness tight competition in the next assembly elections as GT Deve Gowda is also an influential leader here. Yathindra, son of Siddaramaiah is expected to contest in the next assembly election from Varuna constituency vacated by his father.
