Siddaramaiah was over-confident, says DK Shivakumar

Ramanagara: Pointing the finger at Siddaramaiah for his “over confidence”, Karnataka Energy Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday said the Chief Minister was exhorted against challenging from two seats however despite everything he proceeded.

He said the Congress did not do even 10 percent of what the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did amid the battling. 

“Rahul Gandhi (Congress President) did his best to come here and crusade in the state in the past three months. But, it is not a good sign for the local leaders, who couldn’t measure the pattern in their own constituencies,” said Shivakumar. 

Siddaramaiah chose to challenge from the Badami and Chamundeshwari situates as he believed he knew the constituencies well even as he might have been “advised against doing as such”, he said. 

“The choice was taken by him (Siddaramaiah) in light of the fact that he knew the bodies electorate well. We ended up careless… within we had prompted him that he should represent only one constituency,” the Congress leader asserted.

Inquired as to whether it was Siddaramaiah’s “over confidence”, Shivakumar stated: “Sure…It is his over confidence which has taken (us down) to this level.” 

The Chief Minister is driving in the Badami constituency, yet is defeated in Chamundeshwari. 

Asked whether Siddaramaiah was trying to contact the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S), when he said he was available to a Dalit Chief Minister, Shivakumar said the party was keeping a tab on the numbers. “It is simply in the wake of taking a gander at the last assumes that we will accept a call.” 

In the meantime, he said the party was “unquestionably” open to contacting the JD-S. “For what reason not? We need BJP to stay out of energy,” he said. 

Shivakumar likewise denied there was any Modi wave in Karnataka, and stated: “Our defeat turned into their pluses.”
