Smuggling bid foiled at M'luru airport; gold worth Rs 15.36 lakhs seized

The customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) on Saturday seized 306.000 grams of gold of 24-carat purity from a Dubai returnee.

The passenger hailing from Bantwal allegedly tried to smuggle gold in a paste form by concealing it inside his vest and underwear.

The value of the confiscated gold is estimated at Rs 15.36 lakhs.

A case is registered in this regard.
