Madikeri: The police have arrested the wife and a man presumed to be her paramour in connection to the mysterious death of a cook identified as Suresh (32) from Tannirhalla village near Somwarpet, who reportedly died after consuming holy water from a temple in Kasaragod received by courier.
The arrested are identified as B D Murali, staying on Basaveshwara Road in Somwarpet town, and Radha, Suresh's widow.
Apparently, Radha used to visit the coffee plantation owned by Murali for working as coolie and reportedly liked each other and developed illicit relationship. They eventually planned to eliminate Suresh, the peg hindering the progression of their relationship.
The plan
According to the police, Murali had filled a bottle with cyanide laced water and sent it via the courier to Suresh's residence, duly labelling the bottle as temple's holy water. Radha, who was already part of the plan made sure her husband consumed the water by encouraging him to do so. The moment Suresh consumed the water became his last draw for breathe. Meanwhile, Radha has been charged with destruction of evidence by throwing the courier parcel into the fire.
