Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday alleged that the previous Samajwadi Party and Congress governments were negligent in dealing with terrorism due to vote bank and appeasement politics.

The chief minister made this remarks while addressing an election rally in Maniyar in Ballia district in support of BJP candidate from Salempur Lok Sabha constituency Ravindra Kushwaha.

“When we asked the then government to deal with terrorism, they used to say – how! Due to vote bank and appeasement politics, they were negligent in dealing with terrorism,” said Adityanath.

”When the SP was in power in the state and the Congress was in power at the Centre, there were bomb blasts in Kashi, Ayodhya and in Lucknow. There was no corner of the country left where bomb blasts did not occur,” he added.

The BJP leader said the Congress government then used to make excuses for not taking strict action against terrorists. ”They lacked the will to take action. They were negligent because of appeasement and vote bank,” he added.

Adityanath expressed confidence of the BJP forming the government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the third time on June 4. ”It is clear from the enthusiasm of the common people in the trends of the sixth phase that once again the Modi government is going to be formed on June 4 and the target of crossing 400 is going to be achieved,” Adityanath said. ”From Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kamrup in Assam to Kutch in Gujarat, the same slogan is echoing that only a Ram devotee will sit on the throne of Delhi on June 4,” he added.

Voting will be held in Salempur Lok Sabha constituency in the seventh phase on June 1.
