Mangaluru: In the backdrop of the garbage dumped at Pachanady dumping yard coming crashing downhill in Mandara area, a special study team from the state government visited Mandara area on Thursday with the aim to study the tragedy caused by the incident and submit a report in this regard to the government.
The team made up of experts from various areas including S Pattabhiraman from Chennai, Dr P M Kulkarni from Mysuru, Ramesh from Bengaluru and Nagesh Prabhu from Tamil Nadu visited Mandara area and carried out inspection. Later the team visited the families who have been provided temporary accommodation at Baiturli in Kulashekar and spoke with them and accepted their requests. MCC commissioner Ajit Kumar Hegde, health department officer and Mangaluru PCB officials were present. Later the team held talks with officials at MCC office. In the night, the team held discussion with the DC.
The team will be submitting their report to the government within 15 days regarding the extent of the damage caused by the garbage and amount of garbage lying at Mandara, solution to the problem, precautionary measures to prevent such an incident from repeating, adverse effect on the environment and other issues, informed the corporation commissioner.
