State govt reduces motor vehicle tax by 50%

Bengaluru: The state has taken another crucial decision in the wake of Coronavirus, transportation Minister Laxman Savadi informed that the department has decided to reduce motor vehicle tax by 50%.

“In the view of COVID-19 the Karnataka government has decided to reduce motor vehicle tax that has to be paid by June end by 50%, (Except for newly registered vehicle)” stated a notice issued by Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi.

Earlier the Karnataka transport department has decided to waive motor vehicle tax for commercial vehicles in the state for the month of May.

Laxman Savadi had said, “The government imposed a lockdown due to Covid second wave. We have decided to exempt commercial vehicles from paying MV tax during May.”
