Bengaluru: In Navalagunda Naragunda of Dharwad District, the hot spot of farmer agitation, where the agitating farmers were demanding drinking water from Mahadayi project, the Karnataka Police brutally assaulted and arrested innocent people and thereby tried to subdue the agitation. Kallappa Devappa of Agalawadi in Navalagunda was seriously injured in the government sponsored brutal attack by the police on the agitators. He had injuries to his kidneys too. He was in Chitradurga Jail for about 15 days and was not provided proper medical treatment. After his release he was getting treated in Hubballi KIMS Hospital but the farmer already distraught with crop loss and shocked by the inhuman attitude of the government, had gone into depression and passed away on Wednesday.

This is a brutal murder by the Congress government and though no amount of compensation to the bereaved family can ever bring back their beloved one, AAP demands that the Sri Siddaramaiah government should immediately pay a compensation of 50 lakhs to the family of the farmer and take all steps to provide Mahadayi water to the farmers of the area. AAP also demands that the Home Minister G Parameswara should immediately resign owning moral responsibility for the brutal attack on agitating farmers by the Police. AAP also urges that if the Opposition Leader B S Yeddyurappa has any shame left, should impress upon the prime minister to release grants for the farmers in distress, instead of showing their pseudo patriotism, said AAP.
