State govt to help set up textile unit at Chamarajnagar

Bengaluru: Karnataka Heavy Industries Minister K.J. George on Monday said the state government would help Sutlej Textiles Ltd in setting up its unit in Chamarajanagar at a cost of Rs 786 crore.

The textile making unit is being set up at Badanaguppe and Kallambahalli towns of Chamarajanagar region, around 180 km southwest of Bengaluru. 

The minister, who is additionally in-charge for the Sugar, Information Technology and Biotechnology (IT and BT) and Science and Technology portfolios, visited the industrial estate being set up by the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board. 

The estate will be spread more than 1,460 acres of land of land. The minister said Sutlej would make sportswear in the 46 acres of land apportioned to it. 

The organization will offer occupations to around 1,800 skilled youth, George stated, promising the state’s assistance for its initial commissioning.

Entrepreneurs belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, in backward classes get an extra five percent subsidy to set up their organizations in the areas. 

Women entrepreneurs, businesspersons with disabilities and the individuals who have served in the military likewise get an extra five percent subsidy for setting up their organizations in the backward locales.
