K'taka: Student visits to schools restricted till Oct 15

Bengaluru: Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar has said that first priority of the state government is the health of students and it is will not reopen schools, colleges in haste.

Speaking to media here Kumar said that no decision has been taken on opening schools though the Centre’s Unlock guidelines allow for opening educational institutions.

“We are in discussions with parents, educational institutions and experts on this matter. Any decision in this regard will be announced in the second week of October,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Education Department, in an order issued on Wednesday has informed that restriction on student visits to schools and PU colleges has been extended till October 15 due to rising coronavirus cases in the state.

According to the unlock 4.0 guidelines, issued by Centre students studying in Class 9 and above were allowed to visit schools with consent from parents, to meet teachers and get their academic queries addressed. “Institutions can’t insist on students attending classes,” the order emphasized.
