Sullia: Woman and her child jump into lake; child survives

Sullia: In a suicide bid, a woman, along with her 3-year-old child, jumped into a lake at Devachalla village in Sullia Taluk. The woman died, but fortunately, the child survived.

The deceased has been identified as Geeta, wife of Dayananda of Talur. She had jumped into the lake with her daughter Poorvika.

As per sources, Geeta worked in the office of a private college in Sullia.

The child survived by hanging onto a rock in the lake. Family members, with help from locals, rescued the hapless child.  She was rushed to the government hospital in Sullia for emergency medical treatment.

Meanwhile, Sullia police have registered a case and investigating the matter.
