The incident took place on September 10, when the policemen – SI Virendra Mishra and head constable Mahendra Prasad – stopped the biker, Rinku for inspecting his vehicle papers. An argument ensued between Rinku and the police personnel which escalated into the cops manhandling Rinku with his niece witnessing the entire event.
A video of the entire sequence, taken by a bystander was circulated on social media prompting the suspension of the two policemen.
The police, however, said the man was drunk and was involved in a communal dispute in the area. He was not tested for drinking and driving.
