Temples introduce special facilities for senior citizens

Subrahmanya/Kollur/Kateel: In an initiative aimed at providing convenience and comfort to senior citizens, major temples belonging to the Religious Endowment Department in the Coastal region, including Kukke Shree Subrahmanya Temple, Kollur Shree Mookambika Temple, and Kateel Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple, have implemented a separate entry for quicker Darshan facilities.

The Department of Religious Endowments recently issued a directive to the management boards of these temples, instructing them to allow separate entry facilities for devotees aged 65 and above in order to ensure the spiritual experience is more convenient.

At the Kukke Subrahmanya Temple, a special help center for senior citizens has been established near the Rajagopuram. This center offers personalized assistance to elderly devotees, enabling them to bypass the regular queues. Additionally, arrangements have been made for senior citizens to easily perform religious services and receive ‘Prasadam’.

Similarly, the Kollur temple has introduced a verification process utilizing the Aadhaar card of senior citizens to facilitate seamless service.

In Kateel, special facilities for senior citizens are being provided exclusively on Fridays and Sundays, as there is a higher influx of devotees on these days. On other days, devotees are granted access via the regular queues.

Following the implementation of the Shakti Scheme for free travel for women, the Kukke Shree Subrahmanya Kshetra has witnessed a significant increase in footfall, particularly on Saturdays. A large number of women have been observed arriving at the temple premises via government buses this week.
