As a precautionary measure, eleven families living in the area have been asked to shift to a safer area. Three families have been accommodated in the community hall belonging to the municipality while other families are living with their relatives.
Initially, when the crack appeared at the middle near the foot of the hillock, it was about 200 metres long and one inch wide and on Tuesday, it widened by about 3 inches with the inner layer seemed to have slid down by three inches. Meanwhile, several horizontal and vertical cracks have appeared on the higher levels of the hillock.
The area was visited by the acting deputy director in the department of geology Padmashree and hydrologist Vasudha on Monday afternoon. They verified and informed that the area may suffer from tremors and therefore the 11 families living in the vicinity were convinced to shift away from the area.
