On July 27th, Abhijith Dey had arrived to Mangaluru by flight along with his father. They were en route to Manipal in a taxi from Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) when they stopped the taxi at Kulur for tea. After having tea, Devkumar Dey paid the bill and on coming out of the hotel found that his son had vanished without a trace.
Mobile phone switched off
Immediately after failing to locate Abhijith, the distressed father called his son on his mobile phone and found out that his cell phone was switched off. Requesting help from some locals he tried to locate his son in vain and ultimately, filed a missing person complaint with Kavoor police station.

Further in the complaint, the father informed the police that his son had insisted on getting admitted to Manipal Engineering College and therefore he had accompanied Abhijith. However, admission for Manipal Engineering College has already been closed and hence it is suspected that Abhijith may have lied to his father to reach here.
Laptop still working
Though the police have searched intensely for Abhijith since the past three days, so far they have not located him. However, the police have noticed that Abhijith’s laptop is connected to online through internet , thus giving rise to the possibility that the missing person might be taking shelter at a railway station, bus stand or malls where free WiFi service is available. Hence, the police along with searching for the missing person at other places have given extra importance to these places also.
