Thekkatte petrol bunk sealed after Mandya COVID-19 patient travels in Green Zone

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner of Udupi G Jagadeesha has ordered to seal down a petrol bunk in Thekkatte and the locality after a 50-year-old man from Nagamangala, Mandya district who came in contact with few people from Petrol bunk was tested positive for the virus.

A 50-year-old man from Sathenahalli in Nagamangala taluk, was into the hotel business in Mumbai for the past 20 years had returned to his home town recently via Udupi. He had visited a petrol bunk in Thekkatte and had taken a bath there.

After the was tested positive on Monday, April 27 the Udupi district administration has sent few people under quarantine after checking the CCTV footage of the Petrol bunk.

The decision was taken after Mandya Deputy Commissioner Dr M V Venkatesh informed,” Patient 505 had started his journey from a market in Mumbai in a canter vehicle, transporting Dates (Khajur). He had taken bath at a petrol bunk in Udupi, during the transit. The vehicle reached Channarayapatna in Hassan district, via Mangaluru, on April 22.”

“His brother-in-law ferried him to Sathenahalli in a car. The Health department personnel, who examined him while random checking, found him positive on Monday. He has been shifted to the designated hospital in Mandya,” the DC said.

Venkatesh further added the fact that he travelled from Mumbai to Nagamangala when the nationwide lockdown to mitigate the virus spread is on, is a clear case of violation of lockdown rules, M V Venkatesh added.
