Thota Bengre gang rape case: Suo motu case filed against ASI for dereliction of duty

Mangaluru:  A suo motu case is registered in the Bantwal police station against ASI Raghuram Hegde who failed to register the complaint by the victim of the recent Thota Bengre rape case, said SP Ravikante Gowda.

As the residence of the victim was within the limits of the Bantwal police station, hence she had attempted to file her complaint at that police station. However, Raghuram Hegde, who was acting in-charge at that time not only failed to register the case, but also did not make any arrangements to send the victim to the corresponding police station under whose limits the crime had been committed. Additionally, he also failed to inform such a grave incident to the respective police station.

Later, the SP had suspended ASI Raghuram Hegde on charges of dereliction of duty.
