Three youths from B'luru, Mumbai jailed in Kuwait

Bengaluru: Three youths including two from Bengaluru were were arrested and jailed at Kuwait, reportedly for no fault of theirs.

The arrested have been identified as Ankit Shivappa Naik (29) from Mumbai, Krishnamurthy Shankar Naik (26) from Chitradurga who is currently settled in Bengaluru, and Nitish Ganesh Manikeri (29) from Andhra Pradesh, who is a current resident of Bengaluru.

As per the sources, a Kuwait-based visa agent, Mohammad Hassan, had provided commercial visas to them and the trio along with a friend, who is employed in a bank at Kuwait, had taken a flight to Kuwait last week.

After touring the country, when they were all set to fly back, the police stopped them at Kuwait airport arrested them and sent to jail without assigning any reason. However, there is suspicion about the commercial visas provided by their agent. However, the trio will have to stay in the jail till Tuesday, January 14 as the state has declared three-day public holiday following the demise of the Sultan of Oman, the state has declared a three-day public holiday.

Meanwhile, om Mangaluru and Anil Prabhu Kalasa have been trying to secure their release. They have already contacted the Indian Embassy at Kuwait. None of the Kuwaiti officials could be contacted as there is holiday till Tuesday, informed sources.
