“Fine has been increased. Penalty for using mobile phones while driving is up to Rs 1,000, and for parking in a non-designated place, over speeding and driving vehicles without license will be up to Rs 1,000,” he informed.
“Meeting has been conducted with staffs who tow the vehicles. They have been informed to make an announcement before towing the vehicle. If the owner is close by, then fine should be imposed on the spot. They should make sure that the vehicle is not damaged in the process of getting towed,” said Mr Patil.
Responding to a caller from the Kotekar area complaining about vehicles transporting school children taking more children than the permitted limit the commissioner said, “You have provided valuable information and action will be taken on this.”

A caller complained of vehicles being parked on either sides of the road near BEM School, while a caller from Bejai complained about a bar opposite the KSRTC bus stand, where couple of drunkards create nuisance in the morning. In response, the commissioner asked a police officer to visit the spot and book a case against the offenders.
A caller from Bondel pointed out that a PTC bus on the route number 14 is neither issuing tickets nor giving back the change to the passengers.
Main complaints during the phone-in programme

- Appointment of a traffic policeman at Ladyhill junction which is prone to daily traffic jam when the school leaves students in the afternoon.
- Although there is free left turn at PVS circle, a few vehicles come in between and cause traffic congestion.
- The road dug up for underground drainage system at Urwa has not yet been repaired.
- Buses proceeding towards Thokkottu stop illegally in the middle of the road at Pumpwell junction causing problem to motorists.
- Provision of facilities at the cyber police station in the city for the quick investigation of cases.
- The number of cigarette vending petty shops is increasing along Bhavanti street. They need to be closed.
- Install Ambedkar circle signage at Jyothi circle.
- The size of the circle at Kavoor junction is big and needs to be trimmed.
- Buses are being driven rash and negligently in the city.
- Initiate action against all the vehicles parked between Falnir-Unity hospital road.
- During the evenings, two-wheeler riders over-speed along the road near Ashoknagar School.
- Youth smoke cigarettes, loitering and sitting in front of some shops near Jeppu Market well into the night.
- Vehicles are being parked on the roadside along the road between City hospital and Kadri Maidan.
- Construct a pedestrian overbridge at Hampankatta signal for the pedestrians to cross the road.
- Buses stopping at Kulai during the morning are causing trouble. Some buses are not providing bus tickets.
