Tuluver Kudla urge CM to accord official language status to Tulu; release logo

Bengaluru: Demanding state official language status for Tulu, leaders of Tuluver Kudla submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai at the Chief Minister’s office in Vidhana Soudha on Thursday.

The Chief Minister released the logo of Tuluver Kudla. The delegation led by Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath and Mulki-Moodbidre MLA Umanath Kotian along with Tuluver Kudla president Pratik U Poojary  presented the book, “Tulu Kelinja Bharata’’ to the Chief Minister.

The Chief Minister also attended a function organized by the Kannada and Culture Department  to present the State Awards for the year 2019-20 and confer of the Basava National Award at Ravindra Kalakshetra on Wednesday.

Bommai and urged people to love and cherish their mother-tongues and said the communities that understand the importance of their mother-tongue will flourish.

Bommai also praised Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala D Veerendra Heggade for his contribution in the field of rural development and upliftment of the poor.

Basalinga Pattadevaru of Bhalki in Bidar has followed the teachings of Basavanna and has a huge following from Bidar to Kollegal. There are many other people who without recognition are working towards the upliftment of the society,such people must be honoured, he said.

Kannada and Culture Minister V Sunil Kumar and Kannada and Culture Department Director Rangappa were present.
