In a recent tweet, Tharoor taking a dig at the massive crowd that came to attend PM’s Howdy Modi event during his recent visit to the US posted a picture of former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru, and Indira Gandhi at a public rally. He captioned the photo, “Nehru & India Gandhi in the US in 1954. Look at the hugely enthusiastic spontaneous turnout of the American public, without any special PR campaign, NRI crowd management or hyped-up media publicity.”

Shashi Tharoor soon became the target of trolls when he committed a major blunder after he misspelt ‘Indira’ as ‘India in his tweet and by also giving incorrect information to his followers.

In reality, the photo of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi that Tharoor shared was one clicked in 1955 when they visited the visited then Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), in  Magnitogorsk, and not one clicked in 1954 in USA.

Soon #IndiaGandhi, #USSR, #IndiraGandhi started trending with over 75,000 tweets on the platform.
