As indicated by the complaint documented by R Kumar (39) and C Anandan (49) at Nandini Layout police headquarters, Muniraju Gowda had organised a rangoli competition in Laggere six months ago. He allowed entry to participants only if they submit their voter id cards and advocated the act saying that he simply needs to ensure that the members are from his constituency.
Muniraju gave away gold, silver and cash as prizes for the winners. Nonetheless, after the competition, he refused to return the voter id cards of the people and said that all voters will get the cards on the election day and he asked people to vote in favor of him, the complaint states.
After the voter id cards were seized by the police and election commission, Gowda debilitated people to name Congress candidate Munirathna if addressed, says Kumar in his complaint.
