Kochi: Nearly 3 months after the Supreme Court lifted a ban on the ban on entry of women of menstrual age inside Sabarimala Temple, two women, under the age of 50, scripted history by entering the Lord Ayyappa temple to offer their prayers.

The women devotees, identified as Bindu and Kanakdurga, offered prayers at the Sabarimala Temple at around 3.45 am this morning. This is after an initial attempt made by them, in December 2018 had failed due to the massive protests.

The women who are in their 40s were escorted by police personnel.
