Udupi: 3 arrested for illegal sale of beef

Shirva: Police arrested three persons on charges of illegally running a slaughterhouse and selling beef at the house of a person called Hajabba at Kalaturu Painaru near here on Friday, May 8.

The arrested have been identified as Badruddin, Sheikh Abdullah and Lav Shetty. Two other persons managed to flee the spot.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of police personnel under guidance of Udupi District SP raided the spot and rescued a bovine, seized over 80 kg beef, and other materials.

The rescued bovine has been transferred to a local gaushala.

A case has been registered at Shirva police station.
