Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha, who is heading the magisterial inquiry informed that the government has obliged to his request of additional time for submission of the report.
The government had earlier given a deadline of March 23 for submission of the inquiry report. However additional time was sought owing to delay in the recording of evidences, he said.
Meanwhile, the next high court hearing is scheduled for April 21. Udupi DC is expected to submit the inquiry report before the high court.

“About 30 police personnel, the Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner, assistant commissioner and doctors who conducted the postmortem, will depose before the magistrate on Monday. We will also give the public one last opportunity to appear before the magistrate and submit documents, and this date will be announced on Monday, after which the hearing will be closed,” he said.
Two people-Nausheen and Jaleel- were killed in the firing on December 19, 2019, during the protests here against the CAA.
The Karnataka government had decided to hold a CID probe and a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
