Udupi: Decision on shortening of business hours after discussion with ministers, says DC

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha has said that a decision on the shortening of business hours during the lockdown relaxation period will be taken after consultation with the district in-charge minister and local MPs and MLAs.

Speaking to Udayavani, he further said that 12 metric tonnes of oxygen have been requested from the government as presently oxygen reserves in the district will last for two days.

“Of the 1,900 beds reserved for COVID-19 patients in the district, 670 beds have been occupied till Wednesday. All ICU beds are presently occupied in the district. We have asked Manipal’s Kasturba Hospital and Udupi’s Dr TMA Pai Hospital to increase ICU beds. District health officials have said that there were no complaints about ICU bed shortage on Thursday,” he said.

“Of the 2,000 vaccine doses that arrived on Tuesday, 340 were given on Thursday to those awaiting their second dose. There are currently 1,060 doses remaining, which will be also be given to those who are pending for the second dose. The vaccine beneficiaries will be notified by telephone,” he added.
