During the session, Udupi’s Deputy Commissioner, Kurma Rao M, emphasized that social and religious events should not be exploited for political purposes. He also stated that any poll advertisements should be approved at least 48 hours in advance before publishing. Additionally, social media is being closely monitored for any content that may influence candidates or elections.
SP Akshay Machindra Hakey spoke about the measures being taken to prevent violations during elections. Checkposts have been set up, surprise raids are being conducted, and large godowns and buildings are being inspected for the storage of goods. The officials have seized Rs 48.50 lakh in cash without any documents, 6,000 liters of liquor, and illegally transported rice.
The use of religion, caste, community, and language to seek votes was prohibited, according to SP Akshay Machindra Hakey. Udupi district’s Chief Panchayat Officer, Prasanna H, and resource person, Ashok Kamath, provided additional details on the model code of conduct.
