Udupi: District's COVID-19 mortality rate lowest in State says DC

Udupi: Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Udupi district G Jagadeesha stated that the district has the lowest COVID-19 mortality rate. It is one of the three districts in the State with this distinction, adding that out of the three districts, Udupi has managed to treat patients in the district while the other two have to shift serious cases out of their districts.

Jagadeesha was speaking at a district administration-sponsored workshop for the ‘COVID Frontline Warriors’ at Shamili Hall here on Saturday, October 10.

“The frontline warriors that includes government physicians, officials from various departments, tehsildars and Zilla panchayat CEOs are successfully and diligently managing and reducing COVID-19 mortality rate in the district. With the cooperation of private hospitals, the patients are getting better treatment. In addition, the safety of the Warriors is also taken care of,” he said.

An award was presented at the event to Dr Prashant Bhat, district’s COVID Nodal Officer who could not receive the award on Independence Day due to ill health.

The DC also stated that Udupi district has been first in the State for the past 12 months in conducting revenue department services.

Chancellor of MAHE Lieutenant General (Retired) Dr Venkatesh, Rotary Club’s Abhinandan Shetty. Zilla Panchayat’s CEO Dr Naveen Bhat, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, Kundapur Sub Divisional Officer Raju, District Health Officer Dr Sudhir Chandra Suda, Medical Superintendent of Manipal Hospital Dr Avinash Shetty was present at the event.
