The pass percentage in the district last year was 88 per cent. Concerned with this number the Department has set a target to reduce the failure rate to under 5 per cent.
One of the programs initiated is a helpline for students where they can call every Friday between 5 pm to 7 pm and speak to subject experts to clear their doubts.
In another program, the Deputy Director of Public Instruction of the district NH Nagoor personally visited houses of SSLC students and interacted with them and their parents.

Additionally, camps were also organised for teachers to help them prepare students for the examination.
“3,080 slow learners were identified from class 9 and a ‘passing package’ has been created for them to pass the examination,” Nagoor said.
“Additionally, officials have been instructed to adopt schools that recorded less than 80 per cent SSLC pass percentage. These schools are visited by the officials once every two weeks to check the progress,” he added.
